I recently said goodbyes to a group of the nicest people. While the heart still remembers, I want to jot down something. Humanity is such a beautiful thing. Of course, that varies, I want to discuss especially the mental connection aspect as a social human being. I understand humanity is complex, there are sides of it and hopefully I’m aware of most of them.
Human connection is yielded ever since we are born. We grow up, meet people, do something together, leave each other, and die. A vicious, inevitable cycle. A life is built on encounters and partings. A colleague of mine told me: “Life is not essentially an addition of meetings; instead, it’s a subtraction - the more we meet, the fewer times we meet.” Goodbye is a must. Sad as it is, for some, it’s what makes living more enjoyable. The mortal nature in us forces/makes/causes us endear life, endear people who have positive impact on us, and endear other things too. But nothing is perfect, they can make us sad or angry (to some extent and with some judgment, we should know when to end some relationship), but if we can make the some reasoning and judge that they are doing it out of love or positive feedback, then the good outweighs the bad. Still, this is somewhat a relative statement, it varies from person to person.
I have written in a bit somewhat melodramatic sense. What I’m trying to say is that, goodbye is hard, despite knowing about it and being prepared for it. Imagine, one day you are hanging around, having a good time, with each other, and the next day, you are separated, in both gradual and sudden circumstances. Tomorrow, things will be different from what you’re used to. You know it’ll be alright in the future, but right now, the heart is sinking.
I have fortunately been a part of a few groups - amazing and friendly groups of people. Some remain, some I think would be hard to meet again. I keep reminding myself, we will soon meet again when there is chance, “until next time, my friend”. Hope the subtraction is coming, not negatives! To the friends whom I meet along the way, I hope you’re doing well. Thank you for the good memories. I’ll see you down the road .
